At the Milner Ridge wastewater facility, three cells covering 12 ha were threatened with structural failure if erosion of the site's vegetation and soils continued. The site soils were not of good quality for supporting vegetation. Cost-benefit analysis revealed that the expense of traditional top soil replacement was prohibitive. Instead, a Biotic Earth™ system, in combination with erosion control blankets, was utilized. The system provided not only protection as vegetation developed but true soil amendment. |
